Compassionate Home Where Comfort Meets Care

My husband has been a hospice resident at Sunshine for 4 months. Before this, he was in a large facility in memory care. Because of frequent night falls when he was unsupervised, I was advised that he also needed 12 hour a night private duty care. I felt I had no choice but to begin to look for alternatives. When I moved him to Sunshine, the nurse/owner Tigist successfully brainstormed ways to prevent night falls. Her frequent communication with me and the whole hospice team is outstanding. I visit my husband daily in the common room and see the staff interact with him and the other residents. Each staff member is kind, friendly, capable, and extremely caring. The facility is always spotless and the meals are home cooked and nutritious. This is the best personal care my husband has received in his 7 years of assisted living with Parkinson’s. I have complete trust in Tigist and I would recommend Sunshine to anyone in search of an exceptional home.

My mother was with Sunshine Assisted Living for about six months while my father was preparing to move across the country and after he moved. We were able to find a place in Oregon quicker than expected, just a couple months after he moved. We trusted Tigist and her staff completely to take care of Mom while we were across the country.

On my first visit, I was prepared for the worst. I was beyond impressed. We showed up without notice. The house was immaculate and every subsequent visit it was clean and the food always smelled and looked delicious. My mother was happy and extremely well cared for. If we could have moved the entire house with us we would have.

I highly recommend Sunshine Assisted Living if you are looking for a caring and loving assistance home for your relative. When my mom fell and became ill there was no way my sister and I we could care for her. I feel so lucky that we found Tigi and Sunshine Assisted Living through a recommendation from one of mom’s nurses.

Tigi and the Sunshine staff were amazing and took such wonderful, compassionate care of my mom. Mom wasn’t able to do much at all, but they made sure she was bathed and dressed every day and got out of bed and into a chair, which mom greatly appreciated. They took excellent care of her health and medical needs and fed her wonderful meals (that made my stomach growl when I was visiting). They really watched out for her to make sure she stayed as healthy as possible, alerting us whenever anything seemed off and helping address potential issues before they became serious problems. I believe their vigilance and excellent care saved mom’s life soon after she moved in.

Even though mom was incapacitated and couldn’t join in the regular household activities they always made sure she felt cared for and involved. They read to her, played music for her, and celebrated birthdays and holidays with her. It was really a great comfort to me and my sister to know how well mom was being cared for at Sunshine. It was a difficult time for us, and while Tigi and the Sunshine staff were taking care of mom they also were taking care of my sister and me too by giving us peace of mind. I will always be grateful to everyone at Sunshine!

The owner, Tigi, is patient, kind, and full of energy. She, Ana, and the rest of the staff go above and beyond to not only provide care to the residents, but to get to know each resident on a personal level.

Tigi, as a nurse with many years of experience, is extremely knowledgeable about medical issues. The staff is also incredibly attentive. My mother had two medical emergencies while she was there, and the staff immediately recognized the issue and got her appropriate care; they also nursed her back to health during both of these recoveries.

The house was always spotless and homey. They served delicious, home-cooked, healthy meals, which meant my mother never lost her appreciation for good food and was always well nourished. Tigi was always so welcoming to our family, having even our extended family (children, grandchildren, great grandchildren) over for holidays and birthday parties.

Sunshine Assisted Living is truly a special place.
